BEFORE S CLUB
Tina was trained primarily in classical ballet but also tap and modern dance. She spent eight years at the London Art Educational School. Her first job was dancing in a panto with dancer Lionel Blair. Since then she did a few more pantos, fashion shows for Wella and The Clothes Show, adverts for chewing gum ("I had to wear a swimming costume for that ad. The trouble was that it was the middle of winter!" she said) and Halifax (the famous one with the house made of people - she was part of the roof). More recently she danced on Top of the Pops and This Morning with artists such as Shola Ama and Toni Braxton.
Paul's first job was a local production of West Side Story. He enjoyed it so much he took a perfoming arts course and joined the National Youth Theatre's production of Pendragon, where he met Hannah. After that he studied acting and musical theatre at the Mountview Drama School and sang with a Limp Bizkit style rock band. "My great grandfather was the managing director of Abbey Road studios, my grandfather was a Nan electronic particle physicist. I'm one of those strange people who actually liked physics at school."
Hannah's first job was modelling in the Mothercare catalogue at age three. At school she excelled at sports but at the age of twelve her focus changed to performing after appearing a local production of Annie. "I had lots of ideas about what I wanted to be, including a nurse, a professional tennis player, a teacher and a fitness instructor. But then at the age of 12, after appearing in a local production of Annie, I had a new idea. I wanted to be a performer." As well as Pendragon, Hannah also appeared as Louella in a theatre production of Bugsy Malone at the age of sixteen. Hannah acted in a TV adaptation of the novel The Cater Street Hangman, playing Lily Mitchell, a nineteen-year-old maid who is strangled and mutilated. Hannah perfomed a mild sex scene in this programme.
Jon appeared in his first school play at the age of four and later joined a local drama group and took acting lessons. At the age of twelve he auditioned for Oliver! at the London Palladium and got the lead part. "I saw an ad for a production of Oliver! At the London Palladium and thought, 'Why not?'. I auditioned and ended up landing the lead role of Oliver." After that he joined Sylvia Young's Theatre School. He appeared on TV in EastEnders and a drama called Mill on the Floss and sang on the Barrymore show.
Bradley sang in a band called Krisp with friends but never had any training or professional work before joining the band.
Jo began to sing karaoke at the age of twelve and realised that she loved it. "I was 12 and someone pushed me up to sing 'The Locomotion.' Afterwards my dad said, 'Hey, you're quite good.' And that was it. I loved the applause and the attention, so I kept going up and singing!" She performed in clubs all over the country in between studying at the Italia Conti Stage School and was a member of the band Solid Harmonie and later 2-4 Family who had a top 40 hit in Germany with Stay. The other members of the band called her Miss Jo because they thought she was prissy. Jo was singing in a Country and Western club when she was discovered by a 19 rep.
Rachel went to drama school from the age of five. At the age of fifteen she won a modelling contest in the magazine Just 17. That led to some modelling work and Rachel went on to work in fashion PR after studying for a diploma at the London School of Fashion. She appeared in a TV movie called "Taking A Stand" in 1989. She was also discovered by a 19 rep, singing on float in a London parade.
